Route: Botanical Gardens
Parking: Along the roadside or at the park entrance.
Can be problematic during weekends and holidays
Features: Park surroundings, shady, undulating terrain
Surface: Tarred roads, grassy spaces
Distance: 1K for the smaller loop, 2K for the
larger loop
Best time to run: Cool mornings or evenings
Options: You've the choice to run the smaller
loop inside the Botanicals park (1K) or the larger and
hillier one (2K) before heading out towards Youth Park.
Or challenge your lung power by tackling the "Jeep
Track", a tarred road leading all the way to the
Penang Hill, a trip that can take anywhere between 40
minutes to more than an hour depending on your conditioning.
Be warned, some stretches are very steep.

Route: Gurney Drive
Parking: Ample along the roadside. Can be problematic
during weekends and holidays
Features: Waterfront, shady in certain stretches,
Surface: Tarred roads
Distance: 1.7K end to end
Best time to run: Dawn. Watch the sunrise after
your run!
Landmarks: No.1 Persiaran Gurney (luxury condos),
Gurney Hotel, Evergreen Laurel Hotel, Silverton luxury
condo, Gurney Plaza
Options: Run from No.1 Persiaran Gurney to the
end of Gurney Drive. Cross the roundabout towards Gottlieb
Road (uphill climb), cross the Penang Chinese Girl High
School cross junction, go straight. At the small roundabout
in front of the Waterfall Hotel, go right and run all
the way to the Botanical Gardens. Up to this point, you've
run about 4.6K. You've the choice to run the smaller loop
inside the Botanicals park (1K) or the larger and hillier
one (2K) before heading back the same way to Gurney Drive.
Don't stop to feed the monkeys!
For the fit, do 10 of the smaller laps before heading
back to Gurney Drive and you would've logged nearly
20K.
