LABIS
Route: Labis, Johor.
Parking: Ample space at the town hotel.
Features: Tarred roads from Kampung Baru Labis
to Tenang. Few vehicles, hilly, rubber plantations on
both sides, nice country air
Surface: Tarred roads, with distance markers.
Distance: 22km
Best time to run: Cool mornings from 6am. It
gets dark from 7pm
Options: Either start from Labis to Tenang then
back to Labis for a 22km run. For a 30km workout (if
you're training for a marathon), just use the roadside
mile markers. You can buy isotonic drinks from the Chinese
sundry shop at Tenang.
Getting to Labis: 3 hours by car from Kuala Lumpur.
If taking the North-South Expressway, remember to exit
at Tangkak. By rail, 3 times daily direct from KL to
Labis. Morning (8.30am-11.52am), afternoon (2.25pm-5.37pm)
and evening (10.30pm-3.23am). Return train is every
midnight (1.40am-6.25am), morning (11.15am-2.58pm) and
afternoon (3.39pm-7.28pm).
